Description: The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) invites applications for the Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Training (MHRT) awards. The Program supports research training activities in minority health and health disparities research for individuals who are from diverse groups underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences research, at domestic institutions and/or at specified foreign low and middle income (LMIC) locations. The awards support training experiences that enhance the diversity of the research workforce for eligible undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate students, as well as for eligible residents, fellows and postdoctoral students.

OMHRC SMAIF Clinical HIV/AIDS Regional Trainings

Training

The Office of Minority Health Resource Center (OMHRC) is excited to announce two Clinical HIV/AIDS Regional Trainings to be held on August 16, 2018 in Seattle, WA in collaboration with the Urban Indian Health Institute and on September 17, 2018 in Oklahoma City, OK in collaboration with the National Indian Health Board. The training in Seattle will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Airport in Seattle.

The one-day regional clinical trainings are for doctors, nurses, case managers, community health workers, and other health care professionals working in tribal agencies and clinics delivering HIV prevention services. The training aims to increase providers’ knowledge in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment with presentation topics on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV/HCV Integration, and HIV & Opioids.

Supported with the Secretary’s Minority AIDS Initiative Funds (SMAIF), the training is free to attend, and is limited to 30 providers serving American Indians/Alaska Natives. Travel (airfare /mileage) and lodging sponsorships are available to assist providers with attending the training.
