COVID-19 Response Supplement: Tribal Public Health Capacity-Building and Quality Improvement Umbrella Cooperative Agreement

This is an emergency supplemental funding opportunity announcement in response to the current outbreak of Coronavirus Disease, COVID-19.

The purpose of this notice is to announce the availability of emergency supplemental funding to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19 for the American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribal nations and regional AI/AN tribal organizations that were previously awarded funding under Strategy 1 under CDC-RFA-OT18-1803: Tribal Public Health Capacity-Building and Quality Improvement Umbrella Cooperative Agreement.

Applications Due: April 1, 2020
Electronically submitted applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m., ET, on the listed application due date.

Priorities
In the FY 2020 AmeriCorps Indian Tribes competition, CNCS seeks to prioritize the investment of national service resources in:

  • Economic Opportunity – increasing economic opportunities for communities by preparing people for the workforce.
  • Education – improving student academic performance in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and/or serving students who attend Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) schools
  • Healthy Futures – reducing and/or preventing prescription drug and opioid abuse.
  • Veterans and Military Families – positively impacting the quality of life of veterans and improving military family strength.

Application Deadline
The deadline for applications to the 2020 NOFO is Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. CNCS expects that successful applicants will be notified by Monday, July 6, 2020.

This administrative amendment makes the following corrections:

1) Updates the attachment of COVID-19 CIO Project Plans to include a plan that was inadvertently omitted and correct a plan that was grouped with the incorrect category

2) Corrects the budget period from 11-months to 3-months (for administrative reasons, the current budget period is set at 3 months, to end on July 31, 2020).

Please note CDC expects to extend activities beyond this date to enable sufficient time for recipients to complete project activities. As a result, CDC is requesting applicants submit proposals for an 11-month budget period.

The application due date will remain April 2, 2020.

Community-Based Approaches to Reducing Sexually Transmitted Diseases (CARS)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces the availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 funds for a cooperative agreement with organizations with demonstrated experience and capacity of implementing community engagement methods and multi-sector partnerships to promote sexual health, advance community wellness, influence sexual health behavior and practices, and reduce STI disparities. In accordance with the Healthy People 2020 Goals for the nation, this FOA focuses on reducing the proportion of adolescents and young adults with Chlamydia trachomatis infections, reducing Chlamydia rates among females aged 15-44 years, reducing gonorrhea rates, reducing sustained domestic transmission of primary and secondary syphilis, congenital syphilis, GC incidence, and reducing the proportion of young adults with genital herpes infection due to herpes simplex type 2.
