Prior to committing to public health accreditation or for those who are simply interested in exploring what public health accreditation entails, Tribal public health entities may consider conducting a Self-Assessment. A public health accreditation self-assessment can be a powerful tool for highlighting strengths in the public health system, as well as identifying gaps and areas for improvement. Many Tribes have found this process extremely valuable and have used it to guide efforts toward improving their public health systems, regardless of whether or not their goal is public health accreditation. Attendees may also invite a colleague from the state Department of Health to attend the webinar.
This cost principles training workshop will be a follow-up to last year’s Grant Management training workshop and build on our grant management skills. Anyone involved in grant-related financial actions will benefit from this course which will cover cost principles throughout the grants lifecycle, including budget development and review, spending decisions, and site visits and audits.

The purpose of this IHS grant program is to enhance and develop health management infrastructure and assist Tribes/Tribal Organizations (T/TO) in assuming all or part of existing Indian Health Service (IHS) programs, functions, services and activities (PFSA) through a Title I Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (ISDEAA) contract and assist established Title I ISDEAA contractors and Title V ISDEAA compactors to further develop and improve management capability. In addition, Tribal Management Grants are available to T/TOs under the authority of 25 U.S.C. Section 5322(e) for the following: (1) obtaining technical assistance from providers designated by the T/TO (including T/TOs that operate mature contracts) for the purposes of program planning and evaluation, including the development of any management systems necessary for contract management, and the development of cost allocation plans for indirect cost rates; and (2) planning, designing, monitoring, and evaluating Federal programs serving T/TOs, including Federal administrative functions.
