The Society for Prevention Research (SPR) 27th Annual Meeting
“Prevention Science in a Big Data World”.
Call for Papers
This year’s conference theme, “Prevention Science in a Big Data World,” offers the opportunity to consider ways in which the prevention science community can leverage complex data and innovative technologies to open new avenues in prevention research. Consistent with the conference theme, the SPR Conference Committee encourages special conference theme submissions related to Big Data Integration and Mobile Health (mHealth) in Prevention Science: Assessment, Intervention, and Analysis. Our third special theme highlights health disparities research to reduce disparities and increase equity through prevention. In addition to the special themes we encourage submissions for the General Conference Themes, Advances in Prevention Research: Epidemiology and Etiology, Development and Testing of Interventions, Dissemination and Implementation Science, Research, Policy, and Practice, and Innovative Methods and Statistics.
Call for Poster Abstracts, NIDA International SPR Poster Session
The International Program and the Division of Epidemiology, Services and Prevention Research of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) will host the 12th Annual NIDA International SPR Poster Session at the SPR 27th Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA, May 28 – May 31, 2019. The poster session will take place in conjunction with the SPR opening reception, following the preconference workshops on May 28, 2019. Posters should highlight drug and/or alcohol use prevention research, including research on drug/alcohol-related HIV/AIDS prevention.
Call for Preconference Workshop Proposals
The Program Committee of SPR invites proposals for preconference workshops to be held May 28, 2019, the first day of the SPR Annual Meeting. The workshops are primarily pedagogical, with hands-on instruction and specific learning objectives. Past workshops have provided continuing education in innovative quantitative methods; assembled experts to share theoretical perspectives, research findings and real-world implementation experiences that can inform prevention programs; and presented information helpful in advocacy and/or grant writing efforts. These are intended as examples to stimulate creative thinking about workshops. The Program Committee encourages workshop proposals on any topic, as long as the workshop’s objective is to enable the audience to gain skills and knowledge that are important to prevention scientists.
Call for “Brown Bag” Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Meetings
The SPR Program Planning Committee is offering “Brown Bag” Special Interest Groups (SIGs), and we invite members to convene and chair a SIG. The purpose of the “Brown Bag” SIGs is to facilitate networking opportunities of conference attendees who would like to discuss in greater depth a specific prevention research, policy, or practice topic.
All abstracts must be submitted online at www.preventionresearch.org.
Submission Deadline for ALL Calls: Wednesday, October 31, 2018
